Happy holiday and a new project

Before I get into the reason for this post, I just wanted to say a belated Happy Thanksgiving! I hope everyone had a great time with friends and family. I showed off my 733t hand turkey skills for that day's journal post. The word of the day was Gratitude :)

11/25/10

But any way, as I've been doing NaNoJouMo (National Nonstop Journaling Month) I've found that the one word really inspires me to fill a journal page with something creative. I just don't think I could do it every day of the year. It's just not in the cards, though I will continue to do NaNoJouMo with Dawn every November. Hopefully you will join me too. What I could do though, is one entry every week. What do you guys think? Would you want to do this with me? I would post a word probably every wednesday, and then everyone could post their photos on comments here or I could make a flickr group. No deadlines or anything, but hopefully you'd get it done before the end of the week.

It's just a thought and this won't happen till after NaNoJouMo is over. That's her thing that I love and wouldn't want to take away from. But definately let me know. I mostly knit and it's nice to take a breather from that and go back to my original creative love. You know?

Anywho, today I go to see Harry Potter with my dad. It's been a long time since we have seen a movie together so it will be nice. Then off to the art supply store to get myself some clear gesso. I really want to try it out. I've been constantly thinking, "I would love to go over this but still have it show. I wish I had clear gesso." So this has to be done. We'll see what things I come up with it.

Till next time, happy creating :)

The beauty of a Fall day

Yesterday Charlie and I set out to enjoy a gorgeous day. We stayed close to home because parking at his place was scarce. The park right by him was our destination. We couldn't ask for a more perfect day. It was a warm day in the sun and there was no wind to chill us. Only the shade would remind you it wasn't summer anymore. Above us was a perfectly blue sky.

It was really the perfect way to spend a gorgeous fall day.

Motivation!

OK, this is the psyche myself up and motivate myself post. I have today and tomorrow off and I want to be accomplished damn it! I feel like a slug due to being a woman this week. Blech. So this means it takes extra motivation. Too icky for skating but not too icky to be productive and slightly social.

Totally awesome To Do List for today
Laundry and put clothes away
Art journaling
Knit like woah
Grocery shop (farm and store)
Start organizing craft stuff
Then hang out with a friend for the evening

Totally awesome To Do List for tomorrow
Hopefully finish organizing craft junk
Retake all my listing photos for Artfire so I can have more items!
Gut a pumpkin so I can cook seeds
Knit even more like woah
Art journal everyday!

Ok after I post this I HAVE to get off the internet and get moving. This is the super charge for the day. Jenna I think I found my motivation. It's called making a damn list, turning off the internet, and getting up off your ass. Annnnnnd BREAK!

Edit: Got most of it done! This post helped. Posting meant I had to try get it going or else I'd be lying to my readers :)

NaNoJouMo: Days 1-3

What is NaNoJouMo? Well I'm sure you've heard of NaNoWriMo. It's that but with a daily art journal. It was started by Dawn at D'blogala. She inspires us by posting a word a day to help you get going with your art journaling. You can do anything, a simple doodle or a full page entry. So far it's been really helpful. I tried journaling a while back but I feel this way inspires me more. Hopefully I'll keep it up after November.

For a journal you can use whatever. A lot of people I know use a moleskin journal, a regular journal, or even a notebook they have laying around. I, with the inspiration of my friend Rose, use an old book. I gesso each page so I can safely use whatever medium I want on the pages. It's nice because it's cheap, or free, and it has a ton more pages than a sketchbook. Thanks Rose!

On all three pages my mediums consisted of gesso on the pages, pen, pencil, watercolor pencil, some mod podge, and a prisma black marker. I'll post these every few days. :)
